A. Tarau, B. De Schutter, and J. Hellendoorn, "Multi-agent control of large-scale transportation systems: A survey," Tech. rep. 07-016, Delft Center for Systems and Control, Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, 51 pp., Mar. 2007.
In this report we consider control of large-scale transportation systems. Automated sorting machines and baggage handling are taken as examples of transportation systems. We discuss the state-of-the-art in control of these systems, and we indicate potential benefits and open problems when applying advanced control methods like (centralized) model predictive control (MPC), multi-agent control, and distributed MPC.
