Abstract:
In this report we consider control of large-scale transportation systems. Automated sorting machines and baggage handling are taken as examples of transportation systems. We discuss the state-of-the-art in control of these systems, and we indicate potential benefits and open problems when applying advanced control methods like (centralized) model predictive control (MPC), multi-agent control, and distributed MPC.
